High celery, cauliflower prices may linger

Retail buyers hoping for some price relief on celery and cauliflower may have to wait a few more weeks.

UPDATE: Grower issues 2nd sprout recall for listeria in two years

(UPDATED COVERAGE 12:40 p.m.) For the second time in two years Henry’s Farm Inc. is recalling fresh sprouts because of possible listeria contamination and as with the recall in 2012, efforts are hampered by the fact that the sprout packages do not have traceability information.

Avocados from Mexico promotions roll on

Retailers have ordered more than 9,000 co-branded display bins in the Avocados from Mexico promotion, “Hungry for Football,” that began in September and runs through Dec. 15.

UPDATE: Grower issues 2nd sprout recall for listeria in two years

(UPDATED COVERAGE 12:40 p.m.) For the second time in two years Henry’s Farm Inc. is recalling fresh sprouts because of possible listeria contamination and as with the recall in 2012, efforts are hampered by the fact that the sprout packages do not have traceability information.

Food safety conference sessions to be broadcast live

Several sessions of the National Food Safety Education Conference, including officials from the Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are scheduled to be broadcast live on the Internet Dec. 4-5.
